Sakar International has issued the recall for about 199,000 Vivitar Blender Bottles, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, April 3. The defect allows the blades to keep spinning even when the bottle is detached from the motor.
No injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC. One customer was able to remove the bottle while the blades were still moving.
The bottles were sold for about $5 exclusively at Target and on Target's website between December 2024 and January 2025. The recalled blender bottles were manufactured in China and imported by Sakar, which is based in Edison, New Jersey.
The recalled bottles have a clear plastic container with a white base and top. A sticker on the bottom reads "VIVITAR," "Description: Blender Bottle," "ITEM: ES15-BB-TA," and "MID #5220824." The MID number is also stamped into the underside of the base.
Consumers should stop using the bottles and request a full refund, either as a $5 Target gift card or a check, after returning the blender using a pre-paid shipping label. Proof of purchase is not required, but returns should not be made at Target stores.
Sakar is contacting known purchasers directly and you can learn more by calling 800-592-9541 or visiting Vivitar's website.
